An introduction To Matchbook
Originating in 2004 as a betting exchange site for American players, Matchbook expanded globally in 2012 as the company relocated to Europe. It possesses licenses from the UK Gambling Commission and the Alderney Gambling Commission. As these major organizations regulate Matchbook, it is safe to say that the betting company is quite authentic and trustworthy.
They act as a sponsor for Brentford, an English Championship side and has also sponsored a wide range of different events including Quarter Goodwood Festival and many horse races throughout the UK.
The company uses the SSL protocol technology to encrypt data and all information regarding the site and its players and this technology prevent your information from getting exposed to the wrong people. The is a highly dedicated and skilled team that watches out for any illegal activities and resolves any such threats and intrusions.
The brand is thoroughly tested by third parties and fully secured via a firewall that does not let the system be vulnerable to any hackers. Hence, in terms of safety and security, you can trust Matchbook completely as they are offering extremely reliable services, for sure.
It is predicted that Matchbook will become one of the leading sportsbooks in the future, however, how does it match up against other large companies in the industry. Here is our experience of the various betting features of the site.

Outstanding and refreshing desktop site
Being a new and innovative company, Matchbook have an amazing desktop website, with a sharp yet sleek design that catches the eye of anyone on the site. Here are the main pros of the site.
- The interface is easy to follow and runs smoothly
- Fantastic format which allowed finding certain features fast and simple
- A 2% commission for new players on the site
On the other hand, there was also a few issues to the site.
- An annoying pop up every time we logged into the sportsbook
- Pop ups slowed down the site
Overall, even when considering these issues, the site itself was outstanding for a new entry to the market and allowed us to bet with ease.
A wide range of popular sports to choose from
The sports betting available on the site itself is good, with over twenty different sports to choose from. These include the biggest sports such as football, horse racing, tennis, cricket, with a wide number of different markets within each sport. There are also non-sport options to bet on, including movies and awards such as who will win a Grammy, who will be a runner up and who will win the Oscars.
There are also a number of Asian Handicaps available which provide players with the opportunity to give a tea one virtual goal before a game starts, in order to enhance the odds.
For example, you could give West Ham 1 virtual goal against Arsenal at the very start of the game, which would require Arsenal to score 2 goals in order to secure a win. This feature was particularly exciting for us and could be applied to a wide number of different football matches.
Another fantastic feature that was available on the site was Acca bets. Acca bets are a fantastic way to make big winnings with very small investments. Although they may appear complex at first, they were very easy to use and provided us with hours of fun betting on different football markets. The way they work is that the stake of your first selection is staked on a second. This can be stacked up in a way to produce large winnings from only £1.
For example, if we bet £1 that Liverpool would beat Norwich City in their next game, followed by City Beating West Ham, Our £1 could win us around £80. This can be done multiple times to turn a single pound into much larger winnings. However, you must win all of your bets in order to win the Acca, if you lose or draw a single bet then you will lose.
Limited in-play betting
On the other hand, there were some cons to the market. Firstly, in-play bets were fairly limited as a whole.
There were many different options available for the larger football markets, however when it came to other sports, we could only find the typical bets such as the match winner and points scored, nothing particularly exciting or new. This was a major let down, as we expected much more from a bookmaker with a very good reputation.
In addition to this, the company also recently doubled its commission from 2% to 4%, which was extremely deceptive of its customers. Whilst the company stated that they had a banner on the site, it was unavailable on the app which left many players confused or simply unaware of the changes.
In our opinion, this was poor business and could potentially damage their reputation should they make such a move again in the future. We would recommend that you keep an eye on the site to watch out for such differences. Although, this rate is still significantly lower than some other bookmakers in the industry, for example Betfair, who have a starting commission of 5%.
No live streaming services
As of currently, there is also no live streaming services available on the site. This was a major downside considering the in-play bet market was already poor. For better in-play services, we would highly recommend Bet365, who have an extensive range of live streams from leagues all over the globe, as well as fantastic in-play betting options.
Efficient Banking Methods but limited deposit methods
Matchbook offers a somewhat limited number of popular deposit methods. We had the option to deposit funds into your account via major credit and debit cards, popular e-Wallets Neteller and Skrill as well as bank transfer via PaySafeCard. However, there were no charges for deposits or withdrawals which making the banking experience smooth and pleasant as a whole. There is a pending wait period for withdrawals of up to 72 hours which is pretty average for the industry as a whole and did not cause too much trouble.
The Matchbook customer service was easy to use, with good service over the phone and via chat. They could be contacted on 0203 642 6867 or emailed using [email protected].
There was also a live chat feature available from 9:00am to 3:00am GMT+0.00. Monday to Sunday which was a minor downside as the chat was not available 24 hours.
We hope that in the future the company choose to invest further in their chat, as this will help them to provide a well-rounded customer service experience.
