Introduction To Betfair
One of the industries best sports betting sites
First founded in June 2000, Betfair has had one of the most successful entries to the betting market and hasn’t looked back. It is now the largest online betting company in the UK and has since become the largest betting exchange in the world, with a total of over 5 million customers.
In 2016, the bookmaker merged with a large British Brand, Paddy Power and has since been able to dominate the industry with a host of casino games, an unbeatable sportsbook, poker, bingo games and much much more. Here is our experience of the betting features found on the Betfair site.
Sports Market Overview
Upon first logging into the site, it quickly became apparent that there was a great choice of betting features to choose from. In particular, the sports market had a great variety of sports to choose from. This made it a great choice for more experienced players, with a flawless interface that was easy to use. The site itself ran extremely smoothly and was reliable throughout our experience, providing us with odds for sports that we were interested in, as well as continuous live updates.
Available Sports at Betfair
Since Betfair merged with Paddy Power, it has become a dominant figure in the sports betting markets, excelling with every feature. The sportsbook itself is one of the most popular on the planet and runs smoothly and seamlessly to create the ultimate sports betting experience. We discovered a wide range of different markets to bet on, with 33 sports and activities to bet on. These sports include everything from popular football leagues and horse racing, to sports such as rugby and tennis. The site has everything you are looking for in terms of popular sports, which makes Betfair ideal for sports betting.

The Betting Odds at Betfair
The betting odds themselves were some of the best we found out of any bookmaker, which created a well-rounded, enjoyable sports betting experience.
For example, the odds for Everton to beat Crystal Palace in the Premier League were 5/1, very good odds for an interesting Premier League match. If this wasn’t enough by itself, surebets were also allowed on the site which further enhanced our experience.
In our opinion, the only downside to the site was that it could be overwhelming to less experienced players. Although the site itself was stunning and well laid out, the wide range of options could appear daunting to new players which may put them off at first. However, after using the site for an hour or so, you will be able to guide from one bet to another with ease.
On top of a great sportsbook, each sport was also backed up with live streaming features. The live streaming features were extremely easy to find and could be located by selecting the “exchange” tab, which can be found on the “Sports” page.
The number of live streams available was truly stunning, with everything from the traditional horse races to football, as well as international cricket and a range of other sports. This was truly fantastic, as we had the opportunity to experience new sports that we would not normally choose to bet on.
On the right window of the live betting tab, we could easily check any upcoming events from a range of different sports, which allowed us to keep up to date on the sport that we were waiting for. This made our betting experience absolutely fantastic, as the live tab continuously provided us with updates that allowed us to make fast decisions about bets when it came to other games, whilst at the same time enjoying the football live.
On top of these live streaming features, Betfair also had an outstanding in-play betting market. The in-play betting market was one of the most impressive features of the site, offering everything that we needed to bet and trade live sports. It was presented very clearly, which made switching between events nothing less than seamless. From the main page, you can simply select the match you wish to bet on, there we were able to find all of the live odds, which would change as the match progresses. Throughout each live game, Betfair automatically updates their odds every few seconds, which allows us to keep track of the market and make quick bets if we wanted to.
One feature that stood out on the Betfair market was the in-play trading options, which were ideal for professional and more experienced players. In our opinion, this feature made Betfair the best money making platform available in the sports gambling industry and was also available on the Betfair app. A trading bet would allow us to cut losses by ‘trading’ one bet for another. It was fantastic for when a bet did not go our way and provided us with an even more enjoyable experience. The only time in which the market was frozen was a result of a game-changing incident, which was extremely rare and the market resumed once the incident was over.
The only con that we found regarding the live betting market was related to live horse racing. Unlike other sports, which could be watched for free as long as you had a positive balance, live horse racing could only be viewed if you placed £2 on any race. Whilst this wasn’t a substantial problem, it did draw some of the fun away from horse betting, as we almost felt forced to make a bet.
Banking methods - Simple banking transactions with a wide range of payment methods to choose from
When it came to banking options, Betfair lived up to the expectation. There was a wide range of different options to choose from when it came to depositing and withdrawing money. Depositing options included PayPal, MasterCard, Bank Transfer, InstaDebit, Skrill, Ukash and Neteller. We felt safe and secure when depositing our funds, which enhanced our overall experience.
The only downside to the banking options was the fact that not all transactions were free of charge. Certain payment methods such as Paypal, Credit Cards and PaySafeCards all required a fee when it came to depositing and withdrawing money, which was a slight downside to the experience.
The customer support at Betfair was overall good, however it could use some improvement. Customer support was available in a wide number of different languages, which was ideal as it catered for its international players. There was a live chat option which was available 24 hours a day, which meant that we could quickly contact a support representative if we encountered any problems. We also found an option to contact a helpline, however this was online available from 7.30 am to 12.30am, which was a slow downside.
One of the major cons that we experienced was in regards to the response time from the customer support team. In general, the response time was relatively slow, and consequently, we were often left waiting around for a member of customer support to get back to us.
