An introduction of Coral
It’s the start of 2020 and there are more opportunities to make a healthy profit in the betting world than ever before. With more sports and bookmakers to choose from where should you get started? What is the most popular choice for new bettors on the market?
One bookmaker that we would suggest is Coral, one of the longest running bookmakers in the UK. The Coral brand itself dates back to 1926, in which it predominantly focused on horse racing. They grew exponentially over their years within the industry, and soon became one of the leading bookmakers in the country. During the early 1990s’, the bookmaker had a somewhat turbulent experience, with a number of shop closures and acquisitions but have since gone from one strength to another and were purchased by the Gala group in 2005.
Regarding the company's information and the address. We have found very clear on the website that Coral is operated by LC International Limited (Suite 6, Atlantic Suites, Gibraltar) and licensed (ref 54743) and regulated by the British Gambling Commission for persons gambling in Great Britain. For persons gambling outside Great Britain, Coral is licensed (ref? 010, 012) by the Government of Gibraltar and regulated by the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner.
Coral is on the way to build their reputation and reliability by engaging in some sponsorship program. One of them is the sponsorship event which occured in January 2018, Ladbrokes Coral and the Scottish Professional Football League agreed to extend the betting company's sponsorship agreement until at least 2020. The deal will see Coral as a pricipal sponsor of the top four divisions of scottish football in a deal worth up £5 million.
Today, players have the opportunity to bet on casino games, live casino, poker, bingo, lotto as well as participate in one of the largest sportsbooks available on the market. So, how do these features compete with other popular bookmakers in the industry? Here is our experience of the features of one of the UK’s highest rated betting companies.
Website Interface Features
So, does the Coral website live up to its popular reputation? In our opinion it certainly does. Here are our first views on the site itself.
A professional looking interface
Simple, smooth navigation

Great Coral Connect option allowing integration between shop and online betting
We could find no faults with the site. It ran just as we had expected it to and met all of our expectations from the very onset.
When it comes to sports betting, there are a number of factors that we as punters consider extremely important. These factors include a wide range of sports to choose from, as well as unique and exciting markets within each sport. When it came to trying out the Coral sports betting market, it is fair to say that we were very impressed with the results.
When we first logged into the site, we found many different betting markets. In total, there were more than 30 unique sports and activities to place our bets on.We were simply spoilt for choice in terms of options from popular sports such as football and horse racing, to more niche sports such as a popular volleyball market and MMA.
Whilst the main sport of focus was football, the site itself was not overwhelmed like many other sites. Instead, we were introduced into a vibrant market in which we had a wide array of sports markets to bet from, no matter what sport we chose to play in. Within each sport, we could choose to place wagers on top division games, which allowed us to learn about and better understand sports that we would not normally consider betting on.
The football markets in particular were very fun to play around with and included top divisions such as the Premier League, Serie A and the Bundesliga. If this wasn’t enough by itself, within each league we had a range of unique and fun bets to choose from, including traditional offers such as the score at half and full time, as well as bets on the top goal scorer, the first scorer and the ways in which goals were scored. This variety of betting options meant that we always had one option or another to play around with.
Whilst there were no ‘unique features’ available on the site itself, the sheer number of markets and betting options ensured that our experience was nothing less than flawless.
We would highly recommend the sportsbook to not just football fans, but fans of all sports. When betting on the site, you always find a unique bet that catches your eye, as well as fun bets that you can wager on with the chance to make small profits. The market gets a fantastic 9/10 for us.
If you’re someone who likes to dabble in other forms of betting alongside more traditional betting, then Coral has a fantastic virtual sports betting market for you. The option to access the virtual sports on the site could be located with ease from the main tabs on the main menu. With such easy access, we took our time to try out some of the various markets that were on offer. These markets included horse racing, greyhound racing, football, motor racing, boxing, darts and many other unique options that we had not seen elsewhere in the industry. The market itself was very interested to play with and brought us into a new type of betting that is slightly different from more traditional methods that we were used to. Unlike real sports, each match was run by sophisticated software which provided you with a range of different statistics in which you could place your bet on. This was a truly worthwhile experience and provided us with a fantastic alternative to the normal forms of betting that we experienced at many other bookmakers.
New type of betting that is slightly different from more traditional methods that we were used to. Then, what is the traditional methods that we were used to
In our opinion, the only potential downside to the market was the fact that some sports were missing out. For example, we could not find any markets for sports such as surfing and wrestling, which can be found on other sites such as William Hill and Unibet. Our only recommendation would be for Coral to include some more niche sports on the site. Although the coverage of sports is already very good, by including some additional niche sports the sportsbook would be truly outstanding and a contender for the best sportsbook in the market.
Whether you like to play tennis yourself, or you are interested in the tennis betting market, Coral also had a fantastic market for you to choose from.
The odds available for tennis matches are extremely favourable with even the top competitors, with high profits margins of around 5%. Coral themselves are the main sponsor for the Coral UK Open, which is a tennis tournament that consists of a field of 128 players, with 96 professional qualifiers joined by 32 Rileys Amateur Qualifiers.
Alongside this, there are markets in the US Open, Australian Open and of course Wimbledon, with a range of fun and unique bets to play around with. During our experience on the site, we had the opportunity to bet on who would win a match, as well as longer bets regarding who would place where, in the competition overall.
Now, we know what you’re thinking. With a truly outstanding sportsbook to choose from, how do the odds match up against top competitors in the market? Are Coral able to compete on odds as well as available sports?
All of the odds are available in the form of fractions, which is very simple to follow without confusion. It is evident on the site that the most popular betting market is the result for fixtures in the English Premier League. This three-way market of Home Win, Draw, Away Win, is extremely fun to play with and offers the best odds on many weekend matches. The average profit margin was roughly 5%, with payout rates of 94% for the football market which isn’t too bad for the industry.
The odds for both tennis and horse racing were also particularly impressive averaging similar in terms of profit margin.
One odd that stood out was the fact that the average odds for US sporting events were over 5%, which is actually much higher than the average for many UK bookmakers. We can say with confidence that the Coral betting market certainly deserves some praise for its odds.
What makes the odds on the site extremely fun are the generous promotions that are available. If you are someone who likes to take a gamble with the chance to win big, you will certainly enjoy the bonuses available at Coral. In various markets, there is the opportunity to win your money back on your accumulator if one leg lets you down- a fantastic bargain if you ask us, especially when you have the opportunity to truly make big winnings with significantly lower risk of losing your money.
In addition to this, you will also get your money back on horse races if your horse loses by a head. This feature is truly fantastic and really does help you recover your money for what would otherwise be stressful losses. On the site, we also had the chance to play in a unique ‘Football Jackpot’ where you have to predict the outcome of 15 games. If you are able to (miraculously) predict all outcomes, you can win up to £1 million. Whilst this is unlikely, it is a very fun feature and one that we enjoyed playing around with
What is a top betting company without a comprehensive live betting market? After all, live betting is one of the main features that bring us punters continuous excitement week in, week out. In our opinion, the live betting services available at Coral were some of the best we have experienced throughout the industry. The live betting system felt alive, being continuously updated with new trends. It felt immersive and ensured that we had a truly enjoyable experience.
One feature that we loved, in particular, was the ability to customise our bet in-play tabs regarding the events that we were interested in, allowing us to tailor our live betting experience. We could also divide the bet in-play options to those that were currently live to those that were coming up later in the day, allowing us to choose bets based on the day, what was live, or the week as a whole.
There were live betting options for every market you could imagine, from top European football leagues, international tennis competitions and daily horse racing events. The bets themselves were truly thrilling and included unique options such as how many corners there would be in the next 10 minutes, who would win the next tennis rally and whether or not there would be any cards in the next 15 minutes of a half. If you are someone who is interested in live betting, then this is the market for you. We would rate the market a fantastic 10 out of 10, with a wide range of sports and markets for punters to choose from.
If you love live betting then you certainly love watching live streams to support your live bets. Coral supports its outstanding live betting market with one of the best live streaming services available on the market. We could find live streams for nearly every sport imaginable, with over 2,000 live events to choose from each and every week. There were a wide range of live streams from top European leagues such as La Liga, Serie A, the Eredivisie and Ligue Un and even matches from the MLS.
To further this, we made use of a streaming schedule to see when the matches were on. The streaming schedule was fantastic to use, as it allowed us to quickly choose which games we wanted to watch, as well as check if any of our bets were about to go live. In addition to great football streams, coral also had a wide range of tennis broadcasts. These included live action from the ATP and WTA tours, which could be watched both on our laptops and mobile devices.
If great British sports coverage wasn’t enough for you, Coral also had a range of broadcasts for basketball, in which the sport was streamed for free from all over the globe. This was provided to us completely free of charge. This extensive market truly had no faults and was absolutely perfect for any type of bettor.
Customer service review
From our experience, Coral's customer service have both advantages and disadvantages. Firstly, regarding the advantages. There are a lot of methods that you can use to ask for a help for example:
Telephone support: The customer service is available 24 hours, 7 days a week.
- 0800440011 ( From within the UK)
- 08002797917 ( From within the UK)
- + 44(0)2085075544 (From outside the UK)
- 0800242232 ( Telephone betting from within the UK)
If you can not reach the helps by phone call, then you would definitely have to report a problem with the application or anything regarding your safety or bets. Do not hensitate to provide them as much as information you can by using this form:
- Your username:
- Sport Play ID
- The time of the problem
- A description of the problem
By providing these information, your problem will be reached within a certain amount of time.
Using these email addresses:
The information and instruction to get were given to us quite straightforward and helpful .
But the problem happened here. Since we requested some information about registration and odds. The call outside the UK charged us quite a lot which costed up 12p per minutes and nothing was solved as the staff was somewhat not trained properly.
We changed to use email instead. This time, the awaiting time was quite long up to 24 hours to get an email answering the issues. These shortcomings from Coral's customer service desk should be improved soon to satisfy the customers and keep them stay back.
